Tulane International Baseball Arbitration Competition (TIBAC)
TIBAC, held annually at Tulane University Law School, simulates MLB's salary arbitration process, offering participants the opportunity to hone their legal advocacy through written and oral presentations.
Our undergraduate team made history as the first-ever undergraduate participants at the prestigious Tulane International Baseball Arbitration Competition (TIBAC). Competing against over 40 law schools, they placed in the top third percentile overall, showcasing exceptional skill and advocacy.

Andrew Ball, in his second season as Assistant General Manager for the Astros and one of this year’s TIBAC judges, praised the team, stating, “One of the most impressive teams I saw was from Rice. Not only were their arguments well-structured and logical, but they delivered their points with poise and energy. I was shocked to find out they were not law students.”

"The Miami Herald Silver Knight Awards is one of the nation’s most highly regarded student awards programs. The purpose of this Awards program is to recognize outstanding students who have not only maintained good grades but have also unselfishly applied their special knowledge and talents to contribute significant service to their schools and communities.

Silver Knights are recognized for going above and beyond during their four years of high school to make a difference in their communities. Every year, they achieve the extraordinary.

The winners join a long list of admired past winners. Since the program began in 1959, more than 1,500 students have been honored. Past winners include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy and Bill Conti, the Oscar-winning composer who wrote the music for the “Rocky” and “Karate Kid’’ films, among other notable names.

A name that was most recently recognized on a national scale is Ketanji Brown Jackson, who earned an Honorable Mention in the Drama category in the 1988 Silver Knights. She graduated from Palmetto Senior High School, where she was a speech and debate superstar. In April, she was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court" (Miami Herald).

"The Silver Knight Award champions a high school senior’s character, academic achievement, their immeasurable community impact of their project designed, created and implemented to improve the millions of lives of Miami-Dade and Broward County residents, of all ages. Since its inception, this being the Silver Knight’s 63rd year, more than 20,000 students have been recognized, and over $1m in cash awards have been presented" (Miami Herald).
